I have pondered about this for so long that I have lost track.
Below, there are three reasons why I have started writing on this blog. See what you think!
- Willingness To Write – I didn’t write often unless it was absolutely mandatory in one of those pesky exams they make you do in secondary school (or what my American followers refer to as High School) – writing was probably one of the weakest parts of my whole life, along with English. I just found it extensively difficult to describe things using an effective simile or metaphor (my pen would halt on the page like a car as it smashes and crumbles into a wall of bricks). Now, I find that writing has become more natural – after all writing is just your opinions and thoughts put down into words: that is literature.
- Lack of creativity – I found that I couldn’t write well enough in a way that would be engaging and interesting to my audiences. My forte when I wrote was, believe it or not, stories about conflicts about war – forcing me to write and describe explosions of bombs as metal fragments are propelled into the sky, causing the clear sky to become invaded by a pool of smoke. Everything else, well I couldn’t write. Negative images were predominantly what I could write about – war, disease, loss, confusion; never, and I mean never, would I be able to describe something elegant like a flower like this: “the yellows disappeared, as the red shyness crept in, turning the petals orange”
- Increase in Writing styles – Now, I have developed enough to write poems, descriptions, stories and articles; all of which can be written from different perspectives. The whole aim of this blog was to increase my experience, skill and writing style and be sure that I can write in a broad variety of styles.
That is what I feel writing is about: original ideas, from an original writer, conveyed in an original way.
